Started this three years ago and it evolved as it went but the manuscript went to the publisher last Fall and I’ve now checked the proofs. It’s now available for order (from Routledge). This represents my thoughts on the limits what is practiced under ‘user-centered design’ (especially ‘design thinking’) and the challenges of drawing actionable input from the heavily carved up social science of human behavior. I could not have written this book without the continual sharing of ideas with graduate students at the iSchool, especially those in my classes who pushed me to explain better, help them see the patterns, and to apply the ideas in their careers.
