That Which Surrounds Us: Selections from the Brandywine Art Prints, 1982-2013

That Which Surrounds Us: Selections from Brandywine Art Prints, 1982–2013, explores two elements central to the human experience—space and time. Sometimes indistinguishable, yet still distinct, factors of space and time shape our identity and inform how we view and operate in the world. Shown in two parts—Surrounded by Space and Surrounded by Time—this exhibition highlights personal expressions of these natural elements while showcasing the diverse array of fine art prints included in the Brandywine Art Prints collection.

Established in 1972 by Allan Edmunds in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Brandywine Workshop and Archives has established itself as a leader in promoting the creation and preservation of culturally diverse art. In 2016, Black Studies’ Art and Archive Initiative along with the Benson Latin American Collection, partnered with Brandywine to establish one of its premiere satellite collections containing nearly one hundred prints in the Brandywine Art Prints, 1982-2013, housed at the Benson Latin American Collection.

This is a two-site exhibition.

Surrounded by Space is currently on view at the Benson Latin American Collection, Sid Richardson Hall, 2300 Red River Street, Austin, TX, 78712

Surrounded by Time is currently on view at the Idea Lab Gallery, Gordon-White Building, 210 W 24th Street, Austin, TX, 78712
