Lauren Uhler is the assistant director of research for the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care. She oversees strategic planning and provides administrative and operational leadership for the research functions of the department.

Prior to joining Dell Medical School in April 2015, she coordinated and managed research projects at academic medical centers including Massachusetts General Hospital and New York University School of Medicine. Her prior research included cost-effectiveness analyses of HIV prevention and treatment strategies and the development of a patient decision aid for shared end-of-life decision making. As part of her previous work, she spent nine months working with research collaborators in Cape Town, South Africa.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
