CCF PRESS ADVISORY: “DADDY’S HOME!” INCREASING MEN’S USE OF PATERNITY LEAVE

April 2, MIAMI, FL—Study of Quebec’s non-transferable parental leave for fathers demonstrates just how effective this benefit is in getting fathers more involved at home. In a report, “‘Daddy’s Home’ – Increasing Men’s Use of Paternity Leave” out today from the Council on Contemporary Families, economist Ankita Patnaik reports:

With new benefits, fathers increased their participation in parental leave by 250 percent.

This program was launched in 2006. By 2010, 75 percent of eligible men were using the benefit.

Men who used their parental leave also increased the housework contributions by 23 percent.
