Joanna Pepin, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the UB Department of Sociology. As a family sociologist, she studies inequality as it is woven through couple and family relations. Her research focuses on the social paradox in which gains in women’s financial resources are often ineffective at reducing gender inequality within families. Another research stream explores how historical time and place contribute to gender inequality within families and the growing divergence in outcomes among women.
