William J. Scarborough is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of North Texas. His research examines variation in gender norms and their intersection with race. He is the author of Gendered Places: The Landscape of Local Gender Norms across the United States and co-editor, with Barbara Risman and Carissa Froyum, of the Handbook of the Sociology of Gender.
