Graduate Research Assistant – Bureau of Economic Geology

I am David P. Dadzie, a Masters student in Petroleum Engineering at UT Austin and a Graduate Research Assistant. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. My research focuses on reservoir engineering and characterization, with the long-term goal of becoming a reservoir engineer driving innovation in energy systems.

Current work

I study inter-well connectivity in mature, multizone reservoirs using the Capacitance-Resistance Model (CRM), combining production-rate analysis with geological mapping. My work on the Katz (Strawn) Field, Stonewall County, Texas, recovers zone-level connectivity from commingled surface rates alone, with no downhole flow measurements, and tests the result against independently mapped facies, thickness, and fault data.

This work will be presented at the 2026 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (SPE-234190-MS) and placed second in the UT Austin SPWLA Student Paper Contest, M.S. division (2026).
