Yi-Kuan Liu

Yi-Kuan Liu is currently a Biomedical Engineering (BME) Ph.D. student at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Bachelor of Science in BME from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. After receiving his Master of Science in BME from National Taiwan University, Yi-Kuan started his research career at the Institute of Information Science at Academia Sinica in Taiwan (2020-2021). Starting in Fall 2021, Yi-Kuan joined the BME at UT Austin for his Ph.D. degree.

Yi-Kuan’s previous studies centered on kinematics and kinetics of the human body. With his master’s thesis on artificial intelligence applications for human kinetics, Yi-Kuan triggered his interest in computational biomedical engineering. Therefore, he worked as a research associate in the advanced research institute of information science and focused on clinical applications using machine learning and deep learning with patient-specific data.

After joining Dr. Castillo’s team, Yi-Kuan continues to do research on computational methods for medical image analysis and clinical applications.
