Research Topic

Dr. Tong’s research interests include quantitative characterization of multi-scale structures in porous rocks, gas absorption and diffusion processes, ECBM recovery and safety science and engineering. He tries to understand the gas transport and storage mechanism and establish the multi-stage diffusion model for tight organic rock formations based on the petrophysical structure analysis from nanoscale to field scale. His research aims to develop permeability-enhancement technologies to increase the extraction rate of unconventional natural gas, especially coalbed methane, and to ensure the process safety in deep mining.
