About the Fellowship
The Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin is pleased to offer Undergraduate Research Fellowships in Geotechnical Engineering for Fall 2025. This program provides early-career undergraduate students with valuable hands-on research experience working alongside world-class faculty in cutting-edge geotechnical engineering research.
Program Highlights:
- 3 to 5 fellowships available
- Award amount: $2,500 per student
- 10 hours per week of research with a Geotechnical Engineering faculty member
- Opportunity to contribute to innovative research projects
- Present your findings at a UT Geo-Institute seminar
Eligibility Requirements
- First and second-year undergraduate students in Civil, Architectural, or Environmental Engineering
- Must be enrolled full-time at UT Austin
- Completed at least one but no more than three long semesters

What to Expect
As a research fellow, you will:
- Work closely with faculty and graduate students on meaningful research projects
- Gain hands-on experience with laboratory testing, field monitoring, or computational modeling
- Develop technical skills specific to your research area
- Prepare a final research report documenting your work
- Present your findings at a UT Geo-Institute seminar
- Build valuable relationships with faculty mentors and peers
