IDVSA’s Director of Mission Critical Initiatives introduced Belonging into the well-known concepts of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity. IDVSA actively works to live this experience in our scholarship, education, training, service, partnerships, and values. It is a grounding framework that produces the synergy of all three concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion to create an environment where members don’t just succeed but thrive.
BIDE (Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) is a conceptual framework that encompasses the unique addition of belonging to three well-known concepts of inclusion, diversity, and equity (IDE). Research shows that where IDE creates respectful, safe, and transparent environments, the addition of belonging, a psychological construct that values connections and caring, transforms organizations into innovative and productive organizations that maximize all of their members’ full potential. The conceptual framework of BIDE captures the whole human experience and encourages empowerment and authenticity.
IDVSA staff and faculty embrace BIDE’s innovative advancement as we endeavor to fulfill our vision of “peace and prosperity” – the elimination of interpersonal violence with social justice as its centering principle.
