Training & Tools

IDVSA trains practitioners in the field, law enforcement professionals, and legal service providers. Additionally, we are committed to the education of UT System students and training early-career researchers.

Through training and technical assistance, we ensure that the field of professionals working to combat sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking in the state of Texas are equipped with innovative, evidence-based strategies. These training efforts are supported by the research conducted on effective victim-center approaches. IDVSA ensures these guides and tools are accessible, and in broadly applicable formats for use by law enforcement, advocates, and civil/legal service professionals.

IDVSA strives to bring training of the highest quality to professionals operating in rural communities, through our expert witness program, which works to build capacity and provide foundational support to individuals with the expertise to testify as expert witnesses in cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Learn more about our expert witness training program and how you can get involved.

Many of our training and technical assistance efforts are built around improving responses to victims of sexual assault. As our understanding of this crime and its impacts have changed, so too have our approaches and best practices. Several of these resources are geared towards specific populations such as law enforcement, or specific settings, like campuses. Learn more about our sexual assault response resources and training materials.
