Second Annual Training for Texas Stalking Project Campus and Community Partners

Description: Stalking is a prevalent, dangerous and often misunderstood crime and individuals ages 18-24 experience the highest rate of stalking. This presentation explores the dynamics of stalking, focusing on the highly contextual nature of the crime by discussing common tactics used by perpetrators, stalking’s co-occurrence with domestic and sexual violence, the use of risk assessments in stalking cases, the use of technology to stalk, investigation strategies, as well as tools to plan for victim safety and increase offender accountability. Participants will identify strategies to collaboratively respond to stalking across the campus and community. Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from a stalking survivor about their experience with the crime and navigating systems, as well as network with a multidisciplinary group of professionals in the Austin-Travis County area.

Audience: A broad group of Austin, Travis County campus and community multidisciplinary professionals who respond to stalking, including:
- Law enforcement
- Prosecutors
- Civil attorneys
- Advocates
- Counselors
- Victim services professionals
- Campus professionals
- And other partners

- The training is FREE to participants.
- This training will be held in-person.
- 6 CEUs and CLEs are offered.
- We are seeking approval for TCOLE credits.
- Parking is available.
- A light breakfast will be provided.
