An Assessment of the Adult Entertainment Industry in Texas (2009)

IDVSA collaborated with BBR to assess the socio-economic impact of Texas’ sexually oriented business industry on the Texas economy. House Bill 1751, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2007 and signed by Governor Rick Perry, imposed a fee on sexually oriented businesses that provide live nude entertainment or performances, in an amount equal to $5 for each entry by each customer admitted to the business. The report provides analysis and recommendations on how to further regulate the growth of the sexually oriented business industry in Texas.  The Texas Office of the Attorney General and its Crime Victim Services Division commissioned this work.
