With funding from the Texas Office of the Governor, IDVSA created evidence-based, victim-centered resources to enhance coordinated community sexual assault response efforts. These innovative and practical tools build upon the successful original CORSA project and support training and education for a broad range of Texas professionals, including municipal and campus law enforcement, prosecutors, community service providers, and advocates. These activities increase the accessibility and usability of the tools by Texas professionals in the field of sexual assault response.
Training Videos: The following are high-quality, evidence-based, engaging standalone training videos for professionals on five major topics frequently encountered in sexual assault cases:
- Neurobiology of Trauma in Sexual Assault Cases (13 min)
- Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Assault (9 min)
- Alcohol and Drugs in Sexual Assault Cases (9 min)
- Sexual Assault Response Collaboration (7 min)
- Sexual Assault and Consent (10 min)
View the videos and detailed descriptions of each on the CORSA II Training Videos page.
Decision Cases: This project also provides four decision case training and educational tools. Decision cases are factual situations encountered by practitioners and professionals in the field. At their foundation, these cases are stories about situations presented without modification to details that would impact an outcome (with the exception of identifiable information). The decision cases created as part of this project present a campus sexual assault case from four different perspectives–Title IX officer, student conduct officer, university police officer, and campus counselor–along with instructor teaching notes for each case.
There are now over 30 trained professionals ready to deliver the CORSA training curriculum in communities throughout Texas. IDVSA experts trained law enforcement, prosecution, civil legal services, and advocacy professionals on these case studies so they can be delivered to local communities across Texas.
