WGS Looking for Work-Study

All genders are encouraged to apply!

Student will be qualified to perform such duties as: creating graphic flyers using Adobe software, preparing mailings, including event publicity; data entry; office filing; making campus-wide deliveries; flyering; acting as front-desk receptionist; maintaining and updating website; and assisting with event coordination.

Qualifications:

Good work ethic, self-motivated, energetic, positive attitude, excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail, reliability, and a desire to make a contribution to the department.

Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator a plus!

We would prefer afternoon and lunch time availability!

Majoring in WGS not required, but definitely a plus.

Department of Economics Undergraduate Advising Office

Description

The Student Associate will be part of the administrative “frontline” team for the Department of Economics Undergraduate Advising Office.  They will:

·         Provide accurate information both in person and over the phone to economics students, faculty, and staff regarding university and college policies and procedures as well as specific requirements relating to the economics degree plans and programs.

·         Provide basic degree information to prospective economics majors.

·         Work closely with the Student Development Specialist along with all advising staff members to assist students efficiently and complete projects as needed.  Projects can include making copies, assembling folders, inputting data, performing other administrative tasks, etc.

·         Make appropriate referrals to campus offices and resources as needed

·         Follow Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines to correctly handle confidential information.

·         Create a welcoming environment for everyone who visits the advising office.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must:

·         Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at UT with a graduation date later than spring 2014.  Liberal Arts major preferred.  Economics majors will not be considered.

·         Have customer service experience, particularly in fast-paced environment.

·         Have good communication and organization skills and be detail-oriented.

·         Be able to work the hours specified.  Preferred work hours will be between 10:00am-3:00am averaging 12-15 hours/week.  During peak times, such as the first 12 class days and registration periods, the Student Associate may work up to 20 hours per week.
