NEXT WEEK: Talk by Human Rights Lawyer, Hina Jilani

Please join us next week on Wednesday, February 3 for a talk by human rights lawyer, Hina Jilani!

Renowned Pakistani human rights lawyer and international advocate for democracy and rights, Hina Jilani has helped to lead the struggle for the rule of law and democratic development in Pakistan for almost forty years. A co-founder of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, the country’s first all-female law firm, and the seminal Women’s Action Forum, as well as the founder a shelter in Lahore for victims of gender-based violence, Ms. Jilani has also been a leading voice in the international rights movement. Ms. Jilani was first UN Special Representative on Human Rights Defenders, and also served on the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur and the UN Fact Finding Mission on Gaza. She is currently a member of The Elders, established by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, and has won numerous awards for her work on peace-building and human rights.

The talk will take place from 5-7pm in CLA 1.302B, UT Austin Campus. The event flyer is attached.
