UGCA Position

We are recruiting students to work as Undergraduate Course Assistants (UGCAs) for a new seminar NSC 107K: Collaboration in Healthcare.  This will be a 10 hour/week paid position ($12/hr) that includes facilitating weekly in-person discussions for a class of ~24 students, grading and providing feedback on written homework (including short essays), and weekly trainings. Most hours will be flexible, independent work on your own schedule. UGCAs will hone their leadership skills as they support the career preparation of their peers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with asynchronous content on Canvas (new module every 2 weeks)
  • Read, provide feedback on, and grade student writing and other assignments (24 students/week)
  • *Facilitate 1 hour/week in-person discussion groups (~24 students/week, 2 alternating cohorts for 48 total students)
  • Office hours (~1 hr/week)
  • *UGCA training and development 1 hour/week (may not be evenly spread throughout term; likely Monday or Friday afternoons)

*The in-person discussion group and UGCA training are the only time-restricted components.  The seminar times for spring are below; at least one must fit your schedule. UGCA trainings will be Monday afternoons.

Position requirements:

We are looking for dynamic students who are passionate about building an inclusive and respectful community where all student feel comfortable sharing their opinions. UGCAs must have experience in personal narrative writing and peer review of writing (specifically giving feedback to other students on their writing).  Desire to support students with different experiences in writing.  Must be available Mondays at xxx for prep meetings and during one of the weekly seminar times:
