The School of Undergraduate Studies offers competitive grants to students seeking funds to promote academic and career exploration. Grants can be requested in any amount up to $2,000, provided that the student carefully considers and succeeds in communicating how his or her academic or career plans will benefit from the experience. Recipients of the Summer Exploration Grant are encouraged to be creative with their planned exploration. Since the program’s inception in 2010, recipients have put their grants toward a variety of diverse experiences, including

  • Teaching English to elementary students in Cuzco, Peru
  • Participating in the Halliburton Summer Business Foundations Institute
  • Studying medicinal plants in Cuzco, Peru
  • Providing medical and dental services through Global Medical Brigades in Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Any student currently enrolled in UGS is eligible to apply for a grant, and can request funding of up to $2,000 to explore a major, career, or field of interest over the summer. The deadline to apply for a grant is Friday, March 1, 2019 by 11:59 p.m. Find more information at 2019 UGS Summer Exploration Grant
