Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunity!

This spring, the Senate of College Councils Academic Enrichment Committee will be awarding three $1,000 Study Abroad Scholarships to qualified UT students! Eligible applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student at UT Austin currently accepted into an accredited Maymester or Summer 2024 program.

 

Additionally, applicants must have (1) completed two semesters or be currently enrolled in their 2nd semester, (2) have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and (3) be in good academic standing. The application is due on Sunday, March 3rd at 11 PM CST. Liberal Arts Honors Study Abroad Scholarships

The Liberal Arts Honors Program will award scholarships in varying amounts to support LAH students and Humanities majors who will be studying abroad in the Spring, Summer, and/or Fall.  An LAH student may apply for this scholarship by writing a one-page statement of his or her study abroad plans. The statement should include where and what the student will be studying, the projected cost involved, and the role that study abroad and the mastery of a foreign language plays in the student’s academic and career goals.

Now is the time to apply for Liberal Arts Honors Study Abroad Scholarships! Deadlines are:

5:00 pm November 15 for Spring.

5:00 pm March 15 for Fall and Summer.

Please submit your application online through the study abroad online scholarship application, Global Assist, and select “Get Started”. The website will prompt you to set up an online profile and show you a list of scholarships which criteria you meet. If you are applying for a study abroad program not affiliated with UT, please enter program code 300999.

Both LAH students and Humanities majors are eligible to apply for the LAH Study Abroad scholarship. Please contact the LAH office with any questions.

Apply to the UTNY Program!

If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. Right? Maybe! Only if you apply by the Spring 2023 UTNY deadline of May 1!

What is UTNY
UTNY is an internship-first experiential learning program that provides registered UT Austin
students the opportunity to live, work and learn in one of the most dynamic metropolitan cities
in the world.

Eligibility
Students must be currently enrolled, degree-seeking Liberal Arts undergraduate students
accepted into the UTNY program for Spring 2023. Students intending to enroll in LA 620wb
must be interning for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Learn more about hours and weeks
requirements.

Financial Aid
Students utilizing financial aid can apply their aid toward participation in UTNY. Similar to study
abroad programs, a student’s financial aid package may be adjusted to cover the additional
costs associated with attending UTNY.

UTNY classes are in-residence, so students should be prepared to pay normal UT tuition for
their academic credits and coursework and a fixed UTNY program fee. Lastly, students pay for
their own housing. They should also budget for necessary living expenses such as food,
transportation, and entertainment. Find program estimates on UTNY.

A resume and essay question are required as part of the application.

The Semester in Los Angeles (UTLA) and UT in New York (UTNY) programs will be holding multiple information sessions in the month of April for students interested in participating in either program during the Spring 2023 semester and beyond.

The deadline to apply for the Spring 2023 semester (for both programs) is on May 1, 2022.

Teresa Lozano Long Undergraduate Travel Scholarship

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies is now offering a number of travel scholarships to Liberal Arts majors for study abroad in Latin America, both for summer 2022 and for academic year 2022-2023.  For summer 2022, they are offering $2,500 travel scholarships.  Students must attend degree-granting institutions in Latin America this coming summer for a summer session and return with at least six hours of college credit.  For academic year 2022-2023, they will award $5,000 travel scholarships for semester-long study abroad in Latin America.  Awardees must attend degree-granting institutions in Latin America and return with at least 12 hours of college credit.  These awards are merit-based.

COLA Abroad

Are you ready to challenge yourself to think outside of your own worldview? Become more aware of yourself and others? Enhance your emotional intelligence and empathy? Gain valuable experience for your career? These competencies are highly valued in the workforce. They can also make you a better learner, and therefore, a better person. Discover the potential impact of a global experience on your personal, academic, and professional life.

This session will give you the tools you need to explore if education abroad is right for you. We will discuss how it is financially feasible – even beneficial – and how to gain meaningful credit toward your degree. We will highlight some programs perfect for COLA students, including exchange and affiliate programs, international internships, and faculty-led programs.

Scholarship for First Generation College Students for Education Abroad

Texas Global would like to encourage you to apply for the First Abroad Scholarship.  This scholarship supports first-generation in college students planning for an education abroad experience. It is a one-time scholarship of $3,000 used to fund participation in a UT-approved study, internship or research program.  Students apply for the scholarship, and then work with Education Abroad to find a study or internship program.
