The UT ASI is a fully incorporated cultural program with lectures, films, hands-on workshops and guest speakers.
From chemistry to art history, this research-based group provides a platform for interdisciplinary researchers across the university to share their ideas, research, and study abroad experiences with one another. This year, many of our seniors were nominated for and/or awarded prestigious awards like the Marshall Scholarship and the NSF GRFP. Internships available with the University of Texas School of Law Immigration Clinic 2023-2024 academic year
The University of Texas School of Law Immigration Clinic is recruiting two undergraduate students who will be in their junior or senior year for year-long legal internships from Fall 2023 through Spring 2024.
The Immigration Clinic provides crucial representation to vulnerable low-income immigrants. The cases handled by the Clinic are diverse and illustrate the breadth of immigration practice. The Clinic has handled cases for clients from, among other countries, Colombia, El Salvador, Eritrea, Venezuela, Honduras, Afghanistan and Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Clinic’s cases range from asylum claims to the defense of long-time residents against deportation.
The commitment for the intern involves 10-12 hours per week of work in the Immigration Clinic. Hours are divided to support the various aspects of the Clinic’swork. The position is unpaid; the internship has been recognized for credit awards with other undergraduate internship courses.
This internship is an ideal position for students considering law school and/or working in the fields of immigration and human rights.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Written and oral command of the Spanish language, demonstrated organizational skills, demonstrated regular and punctual attendance at work and professional demeanor, as well as experience with internet research, printers, and Microsoft Word.
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: To provide support to Immigration Clinic faculty and students through casework, research, translation and interpretation (English-Spanish). Assist with other projects and tasks directly related to Clinic work as assigned. The internship will be performed in person at the Immigration Clinic, which is housed within the University of Texas School of Law.
TERM: The internship runs from the Fall 2023 semester through the Spring 2024 semester, following the academic calendar.

Johnson-Bates Respect and Inclusion Presidential Scholarship
If you are an LGBTQIA+ advocate in the Jackson School of Geosciences, there is a scholarship for you! Please tell anyone who qualifies to apply for the Johnson-Bates Respect and Inclusion Presidential Scholarship.
The purpose of the Johnson-Bates Respect and Inclusion Presidential Scholarship Program is to provide a college scholarship to students who play an active role in stopping or preventing bullying (particularly as it is displayed towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer people), as well as work to improve the climate on campus for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQIA+) communities.
A minimum of one (1) $2,500 undergraduate scholarship will be available per semester for a total of $5,000 per year. Scholarships are awarded for one year only, but recipients may re-apply for a second year. Applicants must be majoring in the Jackson School of Geosciences or other connected fields.

The Center for Community Engagement is recruiting for the 2023-2024 class of Volunteer UT Student Fellows.
Volunteer UT Student Fellows will serve as ambassadors between The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and the 18 colleges and schools across the Forty Acres. Each student fellow will act as a dedicated liaison to two academic units, connecting them with CCE resources to support service learning and community engagement. Fellows will be appointed for one academic year and receive a $1,000 stipend for their service. NEW Leadership is a national non-partisan program developed by the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University to address the underrepresentation of women in American politics. There are NEW Leadership programs in about 25 states. NEW Leadership Texas has been at UT since 2012.
NEW Leadership Texas is a six-day residential summer institute sponsored by UT’s Center for Women’s & Gender Studies that educates college students about the important role that politics plays in their lives and encourages them to become effective leaders in the political arena.
Who should apply?
My name is Ashley Berry, and I am the Senior Administrative Program Coordinator at the Center for Women’s & Gender Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. We will be hosting NEW Leadership Texas on campus from May 31 to June 5.
NEW Leadership Texas brings together college students from across the political spectrum to the UT Austin campus each year to discuss the roles of women in leadership and politics. The program exposes participants to new ideas and opportunities as they consider their future careers.
Participation in NEW Leadership Texas does have a program fee of $500. However, if funding for the fee cannot be obtained from the school or department, we have scholarships available.
