Nutrition Education
We are currently partnering with a local non-profit, The Happy Kitchen/ La Cocina Alegre (Sustainable Food Center.) “Diet-related disease, such as heart-disease, diabetes, and cancer, disproportionately affects communities where systemic barriers to healthy food exists. Through the Happy Kitchen, we promote an understanding of dietary needs and cooking skills so participants can create affordable, nutritious meals. With an emphasis on seasonal produce, affordability, and culturally relevant foods, our curriculum expands access to healthy, local food and aims to help Central Texas residents improve their health.” The Happy Kitchen provides weekly recipe demonstrations, take-home groceries, language accessibility, peer connection, and a free cookbook upon series completion. This group is 6 sessions at one-hour per session over 6 weeks.

Anger Management (for adults)
Evidence based curriculum through the Change Companies gives participants an opportunity to explore the role anger plays in their lives and offers strategies and skills for managing how they experience and express anger and other difficult feelings. The curriculum incorporates both cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness techniques to help participants increase their ability to think about their thinking. Developing this critical awareness can enhance emotional self-regulation and, in turn, promote healthy relationship-building, more effective communication and overall enhanced well-being among participants. This curriculum is a great fit for court-mandated anger management courses, risk-need-responsive interventions for justice-involved youth or adults, anger management groups in mental health or addiction treatment or as part of individualized treatment planning. Course is 12 sessions for 1 hour per session over 12 weeks.
