Peer Mentored Events in Summer
The Council on Recovery would like to offer the IHCP Program at apartment complexes for the months of June, July and August. The goal of this program is to address adolescent health from a holistic perspective. The Innovative Healing Centered Project (IHCP) aims to provide non-clinical services to support wellbeing and prevent substance misuse by promoting resiliency, social and community connectedness, healing and referral supports for families who have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic. This program will take place weekly on site to teach adolescents life skills to include decision-making, anger management, stress management, how to handle crisis, how to deal with peer pressure, and the effects of alcohol and drugs. We also hope to engage with parents to provide education on how to communicate with their children, signs and symptoms of substance use in adolescents, and information on alcohol and drugs. Participants will be connected to resources for unmet needs. Includes enrichment activities such as museums, bowling, cultural events, picnics, etc., Family Night with catered dinner, and weekly program activities for children 6 to 17 years old.
