Differed/Action

by Myisha Arellanus

This painting is meant to reflect the huge risks and efforts that undocumented youth took in order to achieve this very impermanent sense of protection we know as DACA. Among other symbolisms, it also serves to remind those of us who benefit from DACA that the entire immigrant community continues to be criminalized.

Myisha Arellanus is a painter from Mexico City raised in the San Fernando Valley. At the age of 16, she led and completed her first mural project in Van Nuys, California. As a result, Arellanus became an immigrant youth organizer and educator in the SFV community. Since then, she has led several public art projects and collaborated with various muralists throughout Los Angeles County.
