Recent Training Activities

  • Faculty Participant, Concept-based Instruction Workshop, Universidad de Puerto Rico, 2024
    • Part of a cohort of 22 faculty that were selected to learn about using active learning to promote students’ understanding of core mechanical engineering concepts in Statics and Dynamics courses based on the results of a project funded by NSF.

Past Training Activities

  • Faculty Fellow, ACUE “Effective Online Teaching Practices”, Faculty Innovation Center, UT Austin, 2020-2021
    • A cohort of 30 faculty participate in this 25-week course where they learn evidence-based teaching practices. Fellows will earn an Advanced Certificate in Effective College Instruction, the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).
  • Faculty Fellow, Teaching and Learning Academy, Austin Community College, 2020–2021
    • A cohort of faculty participate in this 20-week academy spread over 4 different courses. Course topics include: Teaching to the Brain, Building a Community of Learners, Engaging Students for Learning, Assessing Students’ Learning
  • Faculty Participant, Online Course Redesign Academy, Austin Community College, 2020–2021
    • This training workshop teaches faculty how to apply the Quality Matters rubric for online courses and supports them through their online course redesign and peer-review process.
