I’m not talking about Endgame. but I am talking about ending racism 💪. HUGE thanks to all who showed up last night for our school-wide viewing of “White Like Me: Race, racism and white privilege” by Tim Wise.
We had 55+ faculty and students willing to get outside of their comfort zones, share personal experiences and be open to learn and grow. Many of your comments gave me hope and helped reaffirm the work of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee being done here at the UTSoN. (Don’t forget to take your Climate Survey)
I know some of you were unable to make it last night, but don’t despair…there’s an entry ramp for you too. 😉
The link to the movie can be found HERE and the discussion guide is linked as well (more resources at the end). I would encourage those that attended to keep the conversation going with friends and loved ones (have your own watch party & discussion). Keep bringing it up in your classes and clinicals…we’ve got to keep talking about it because silence is what gives systems of oppression their power.
What starts here…
“Empathy is not simply a matter of trying to imagine what others are going through, but having the will to muster enough courage to do something about it. In a way, empathy is predicated upon hope.”
