Applications are still being accepted for the Engaging Global Health in Costa Rica Summer Program! Take Global Health (N 309) and Spanish for Health Care Professionals (N 354) in beautiful San Joaquin de Flores with Dr. Ana Todd and Dr. Nancy Guillet!
Engaging Global Health in Costa Rica provides an immersion experience for students to explore socio-cultural issues, health care systems, health determinants, and health outcomes in Costa Rica while practicing Spanish language skills. This program is designed for students from disciplines that have an interest in global health and/or Latin America. Costa Rica is designated as an upper-middle income country by the World Bank and, in comparison to the US, achieves a similar high life expectancy considering its significantly lower per capita GDP. Costa Rica provides its citizens with universal health care coverage and offers some of the highest quality health care in Latin America. Students will participate in excursions to unique health and community-based organizations, with further opportunities to enjoy Costa Rica’s natural beauty, hospitality, and culture.
Students are housed in home-stays with local families to build on the Spanish skills learned during the program and to provide a truly unique cultural experience.
Applications will be accepted until February 1st, 2020 at 11:59pm. Scholarships are available with a deadline of February 1st on the Global Assist page with application code 293076.
