Are you a Nursing Student wondering where YOU can help in the Pandemic?
As hospitals experience increased patient volumes due to COVID-19, we need additional “hands” to help.
Calling All Nursing Students!
This is a GREAT opportunity to validate and to practice what you’re learning in nursing school!
How will we prepare you?
- Training in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) support to prepare you to be safe in this environment
- Orientation to your role with an experienced healthcare professional
How Can You Help?
Serving others where you’re needed most in the pandemic:
- Being a “runner” for necessary supplies and equipment. Often the healthcare professional cannot leave the patient bedside, and they need support to get what the patient needs. You could go get it and take it to the patient room or stocking areas, allowing them more direct care time with the patient.
- Being an “observer” to ensure healthcare professionals entering the patient rooms don the appropriate PPE before going into the patient room and doff in the proper order to prevent exposure. This is so helpful to keep us all safe!
- Supporting tasks as requested, like answering the phones, answering call lights, guiding visitors, answering questions, and getting the necessary help as requested. We’re in this together!
- Clearing hallways for patient transport to and from procedures/tests to ensure staff and patients have urgent elevator access and clear passageways. Timely care!
- Sitting with confused patients to talk with them and to keep them safe from getting up unassisted. Emotional support!
- Performing temperature checks at entry screening stations and communicating results. Safety for all!
- Being a “listening ear” for patients, families, and front-line caregivers – Listening and learning!
You will be reinforcing front-line healthcare heroes among the most trusted profession – Nursing.
We need your help! We appreciate your partnership and welcome PRN Nursing Students to support non-patient care and patient care roles. Bring an eagerness to help and to learn.
By helping Nurses you’re helping our patients, our families, and our communities.
