Here is a little bit more information about the program:
Dell Med’s Health Leadership Apprentice (HLA) Program is an undergraduate mentorship program which provides experiential learning opportunities which improve health in central Texas. The program was started in 2017 to provide an equitable and inclusive mechanism for undergraduate students at UT Austin and Huston-Tillotson to access opportunities to work with Dell Med faculty, staff, and community partners. Once selected, HLA students work in teams or individually to collaborate on existing projects. Students may elect to earn course credit and project work is highlighted a number of ways at year end (poster showcase, Dell Med website blogs, etc.). Students are also exposed to leadership and faculty through speaker presentations and other Dell Med events to increase exposure and understanding of the mission of Dell Med. Approximately 50 students are accepted into the program which begins during the fall semester.
