Harris County MRC is a community-based volunteer program that utilizes volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies within the community. Each MRC unit is organized and trained to address a wide range of challenges from public health education to disaster response. Our volunteers have worked hard to master a variety of skills – in medicine, public health, safety, logistics, communications, public service, animal care, and several other areas. Volunteering with the Medical Reserve Corps is a simple and effective way to use and improve those skills, while helping to keep your family, friends, and neighbors safe and healthy. Our volunteer opportunities vary throughout the county and we strive to bring our members ample chances to get involved. We also offer a variety of trainings to get you prepared and ready for all that can arise during an emergency response. By being an MRC volunteer, you will support your community in reducing vulnerabilities, strengthening public health, improving local preparedness, and building community resilience.
