The Texas Department of State Health Services is hiring a number of contractor positions to support a large CDC health disparities grant. The job posts will be extended until we fill the positions.
These are high level contracted positions, who will be doing some very important work across all parts of the state in support of a 2 year $39 Million CDC COVID health disparities grant. The staff will work on-site at least 50% of the time in communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. They will work with communities to develop and implement efforts aimed at reducing the impact of COVID-19 on their community. Currently they have two types of positions available, and will be hiring one position of each type for each of our 8 public health regions (so 16 total positions).
The Regional Community Engagement Specialists will lead community engagement and partnership efforts and the Regional Evaluation and Performance Specialists will lead evaluation and performance efforts. The monthly salary range for these positions is $5,258 – $6,941. Currently, these positions are funded through 05/31/23.
They will be based out of: Houston, Harlingen, Arlington, San Antonio, Temple, El Paso, Tyler and Amarillo. The positions can be found via the HHSC jobs portal and searching within DSHS and using the search term “engagement.” Searches that also include the location will also make it easier to find the positions. The CDC health disparities grant will be mentioned in the job descriptions.
Here is an example of each:
Regional Evaluation and Performance Specialist, Arlington
Regional Community Engagement Specialist, Harlingen
In Austin we have one contract Administrative Assistant, who will also support the CDC grant.
They will also be hiring a couple of Austin based program managers, a data analyst, and a policy analyst to work on this grant, but those are not yet posted.
