The Taussig Cancer Institute is currently seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Family certified) for a full-time position with the Hematology/Oncology department at Lutheran Hospital. [AOCNP (Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner) or OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) strongly is preferred.] This position is primarily outpatient with some inpatient consult work anticipated. This provider will oversee the Infusion Suite with management of chemotherapy and infusion reactions. Other typical duties/responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) EM visits, follow ups, inpatient consults and bone marrow biopsies.
The hours are Monday through Friday from roughly 8am-5pm, with no weekends, holidays or call.
The ideal candidate will have Oncology APP experience with management of infusion suite and outpatient Hematology and Oncology patients.
The patient population for this position is mostly Spanish speaking, so Spanish speaking provider strongly preferred. Oncology experienced APP’s are highly preferred, however new graduates with extensive Oncology/ICU/ER experience may be considered.
Some Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient’s current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. Must be able to work with collaborating physician.
- Performs and interprets, at least to the point of recognizing deviations from normal, common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as privileged by CCF Credentialing Board.
- Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illness and injury which may include assisting surgeons in conducting operations and taking initiative in performing evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations, as privileged by CCF Credentialing Board.
