Faculty, Colleagues and Students, join us on Saturday March 11 from 10 am – 4:30 pm to Black Brown Dialogues on Policy Virtual Town Hall on DEI and Ethnic Studies Policy. Dr. Stella Flores will be joining on that day to talk about DEI.
Other UT-Austin people who are participating in our Virtual Town Hall are Dr. Danielle Clealand, Associate Professor, Mexican American and Latino Studies with a courtesy appointment in African and African Diaspora Studies; EPP Graduate Students Jules Collado; and in the background, providing valuable assistance are EPP Graduate Students Daniela Padilla and Lia Rosen.
This is not a Zoom event. This is a show that is getting produced by media industry professionals. It will be livestreamed on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TeamBlackBrown
The event is co-sponsored with Texas LULAC, the Texas NAACP, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and the Mexican American Legislative Caucus and many others, including the Texas Legislative Education Equity Coalition, and the Texas Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.
Do understand that we see Black and Brown as a BIG tent that’s intersectional, intergenerational, Gen Z inclusive, and white allies. Millennials, too, of course, however, we see current policies as particularly aimed at our younger generations (Gen Z and Gen Alpha). Not utilizing racial and ethnic terms, we think, helps us to not lose our audience.
We do ask that everyone sign the pledge for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at our website: blackbrownpolicy.org. This will gain you access to Virtual Town Hall event updates, together with forthcoming events, legislative notices, and actions.
