What better way to celebrate theatre than with more theatre? Winner of five Tony Awards, The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical that pokes fun at the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre and celebrates the musicals of the Jazz Age. Under the direction of guest Broadway artist, Nick Mayo, Texas Theatre and Dance presents what New York Magazine called “the perfect Broadway musical.”
Featuring Scott Shipman (Man in Chair), Sydney Frank (Ms. Tottendale), J. Dylan Gibson (Underling), Connor Barr (Robert), Ryland Kaiser (George), Morris Jude Martinez (Feldzieg), Tori Robertson (Kitty), Caroline Kinnamore (Gangster #1), Leslie Ann Leal (Gangster #2), Matthew Rogers (Aldolpho), Emily McIntyre (Drowsy Chaperone), Toni Lorene Baker (Trix) and Ryan Alvarado (Superintendent, Ensemble), as well as Susannah Crowell (Ensemble), Claire Davis (Dance Captain, Ensemble) and Grayson Rosato (Ensemble).
Under the direction of Nick Mayo, The Drowsy Chaperone features the design work of Carolina Perez (Sound Design), Barbara Pope (Costume Design), Austin Shirley (Lighting Designer, Production Manager) and Lino Toyos (Scenic Design).
The Drowsy Chaperone also features a live orchestra, made up of Lyn Koenning (Conductor, Keyboard), Susan Finnigan (Keyboard II), Jake Lampe (Reed I), Zack Varner (Reed II), Andrew Malay (Reed III), Tony Bray (Reed IV), Kurt Kumme (Trumpet I), Mike Piccione (Trumpet II), Joe Jennis (Trumpet III), Jeff Freeman (Trombone), Devin North (Bass), Mike Koenning (Drums) and Andrew Furhman (Percussion).
