Texas Theatre and Dance is excited to present the cast of The Smartest Girl in the World, written by Miriam Gonzales and directed by UT Austin’s own Roxanne Schroeder-Arce. In this family-friendly adventure, Leo and Lizzy Martinez want to be the smartest kids in the world, and they’ve got a plan to do it! The children of hard-working immigrants, big brother Leo has convinced his little sis that being smart is the key to helping their family, escape a tough, uncertain reality. The Smartest Girl in the World takes a look at the bonds of family and the key to facing life’s challenges together.
A talented troupe of actors will bring these characters to the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre after touring the show to elementary schools across central Texas. Performers include Rosy Esquenazi Alkabes (Aunt Kid), Faith Bouchelle (Mami), Ana Ayala Gasca (Mami), Jose Calvillo (Papi/Crockett Contestant), Coby Hughes (Quiz Show Host), Celeste Izaguirre (Cheryl/Pierce Contestant), Katya Lopez (Lizzy Martinez), Nathan Ramos (Hector), Gabriel “Gibby” Gomez Reyes (Leo Martinez) and Bryce Riggle (Foley Artist/Announcer).
