Home The UT Student Transportation Council is a collaborative organization at the University of Texas at Austin, bringing together three influential student chapters: the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS), and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). Our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive environment for transportation students to engage with industry professionals, expand their knowledge, and develop leadership skills. We organize a variety of events throughout the year, including guest speaker sessions, networking opportunities, social gatherings, and community service projects. By working closely with faculty, industry experts, and regional chapters, we strive to enhance the educational experience of our members and create valuable connections within the transportation field. Our goal is to support and empower students in the fields of transportation engineering, planning, and technology. Through collaboration and shared experiences, we are shaping the next generation of leaders in transportation. Flagship Event The University of Texas at Austin has established itself as a formidable presence in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Collegiate Traffic Bowl, a competitive event that challenges students’ knowledge in transportation planning and engineering. In 2014, UT Austin’s team clinched their first Grand Championship title at the ITE Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington. The team triumphed over strong contenders, including Penn State and the defending champions from the University of Florida, in a closely contested final round. Building on this success, the Longhorns secured their second Grand Championship in 2019 during the 10th Annual ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship. Demonstrating strategic prowess, UT Austin held their position with no wager in the final round, finishing with a score of 4,700 points to claim the title. The Traffic Bowl has become a cherished tradition for UT Austin students, reflecting the university’s commitment to excellence in transportation engineering education. Each year, students eagerly participate in the competition, which offers a platform to apply their academic knowledge, engage with industry professionals, and foster camaraderie among peers. The event not only highlights the students’ dedication and expertise but also underscores UT Austin’s role in cultivating the next generation of transportation professionals.
