Weaving New Opportunities: UTeach Art Student Attends TBWA Conference

We are thrilled to celebrate UTeach Art Education student Elsa Davila, who recently received a scholarship to attend the Texas Basket Weavers Association (TBWA) Conference from January 23-26, 2025!

This incredible opportunity allowed Elsa to immerse herself in the art of basket weaving, learning directly from renowned U.S. basketry artists. Over the course of the conference, she explored a variety of traditional and contemporary weaving techniques, deepened her understanding of this intricate craft, and connected with a vibrant community of artists dedicated to preserving and innovating within the field of basketry.

We are so proud of Elsa for her dedication to expanding her artistic practice and engaging in hands-on learning experiences that will enrich both her personal work and her future as an art educator. Congratulations, Elsa!
