A Message from the Interim Director, Dr. Amy Simmons Since 1938, the College of Fine Arts has prepared students for meaningful careers as fine arts educators who are grounded in artistic excellence, pedagogical rigor, and service to communities across Texas. The UTeach Fine Arts program offers teacher certification in Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Art, preparing future educators to lead vibrant, inclusive fine arts classrooms. Through curated field experiences, UTeach students engage directly with young people in schools and learn alongside master mentor teachers and expert field supervisors. Our faculty are deeply committed to bridging theory and practice, ensuring that pre-service teachers graduate as confident, capable professionals who share the joy and transformative power of human creativity. Building on the foundational leadership of Dr. Hunter March and Dr. Roxanne Schroeder-Arce, UTeach Fine Arts continues a strong legacy of innovation and excellence in fine arts teacher preparation. UTeach Fine Arts also provides intentional support for students who aspire to teach in Title I schools and in underserved communities, expanding access to high-quality fine arts education in public and private schools throughout Texas. We invite you to explore our program, learn more about educator certification in the Fine Arts, and connect with our dedicated faculty and staff. Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to schedule a visit and discover how UTeach Fine Arts can support their path into the teaching profession.
