Amy Simmons is Senior Lecturer in Music and Human Learning at the Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music at The University of Texas at Austin where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in music education. Dr. Simmons’ ongoing research examines the development of expertise in music teaching and performance as well as motor learning. She currently serves as the Research Chair for the State of Texas with the National Association for Music Education and Chair of the Research Committee for the Texas Music Educators Association. In that role, she coordinates the online journal Texas Music Education Research and the Research Poster Session at the annual TMEA Clinic and Convention. Dr. Simmons served on the Editorial Board of the Journal for Research in Music Education and Texas Music Education Research. Before joining the faculty at UT Austin, she was a band director in the Lewisville Independent School District and performed as a professional oboist with ensembles in Austin and San Antonio.

Madeleine Cleveland is a graduate of the UTeach Theatre Education program and holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Design and Technology from Sam Houston State University. She is a passionate educator and has taught theatre and art at Leander ISD, KIPP Austin, and Zach Theatre. While at KIPP, Madeleine represented Austin area KIPP theatre teachers as the Theatre Strategic Task Force representative. Madeleine is a proud first generation college graduate. Coming from a military family and moving often, Madeleine found her community at a young age in and through the arts. In her free time, she loves playing video games, baking, and spending time with her husband and many pets.

Yvonne Gonzalez is the UTeach Fine Arts Administrative Assistant. Prior to joining UTeach Fine Arts, she served as coordinator of undergraduate admissions and student success at the School of Architecture. Yvonne has worked with an array of students—from high school seniors to pre-school age students, with over ten years of experience in K-12 education. Yvonne holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and a graduate-level certificate in Academic Advising from Sam Houston State University and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Texas-Pan American. She is a Rio Grande Valley native who loves to travel and spend quality time with her husband and rescue dog. She also enjoys great food and a good book.
