WANTED: Athletics Section Editor & Assistant Editor

Although our official deadline for editorial applications has already passed, Cactus is still looking to hire a new athletics section editor and assistant editor.

The assistant editor is the right hand of the Editor-in-Chief. This editor is basically the VP of the editorial staff, helping the Editor-in-Chief oversee all production of the book. He or she will need to be strong in all aspects of yearbook production- from copy to design.

The athletics section editor is responsible for the creation of the athletics book section. With the guidance of the editorial staff, he or she will coordinate stories and photos for the pages within their sections. They will be responsible for the design of their section, so should have a strong background in publication design. Section editors should have strong organizational skills, resourcefulness and an ability to communicate ideas effectively. Adobe InDesign experience is required. The athletics section includes coverage of all UT’s varsity sports. The editor of this section will work closely with Texas Sports to cover everything from the Red River Rivalry game to swimming and golf.

Both of these positions are paid. To apply, fill out the form here. The deadline to apply is August 18, no later than 5 pm. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Tess Cagle at either 956-369-8377 or cactuseditorinchief@gmail.com. Thanks!
