Upcoming book readings for honors students (plus free books)

John Taggart will read in the Joynes Room Monday night, October 29th, at 7 p.m., in an event free event open to the public.  Taggart is the author of fourteen books of poetry and two books of criticism. His work is influenced by medieval and modern musical traditions and by visual art. He recently completed “The Rothko Chapel Poem,”  which is described in this New York Times article. A limited number of free books are available to honors students — inquire at the front desk in the Joynes Room (CRD 007).

Elva Trevino Hart wrote the acclaimed memoir Barefoot Hart, about her childhood in a migrant farming family. She has also published a collection of short stories, Simpaticas: San Miguel Stories. Hart will give a public reading in the Joynes Room on Thursday, November 8th, at 7 p.m. A small number of free books are available to honors students — inquire at the front desk in the Joynes Room (CRD 007).

LAH Field Night at the Capitol THIS Thursday!

LAH Field Night is happening THIS Thursday at 8 pm!  A group will be leaving from the statue of Diana in the quad at 7:30 and walking to the capitol if you’re not sure how to get there.  Afterwards we will be going to the Kerbey Lane on the drag for late night pancakes!  Everyone is invited, so bring non-LAH friends!

Liberal Arts Pre Med Society

Liberal Arts Pre Med Society is having its next meeting this upcoming Tuesday on October 23rd in Burdine 136 at 7:30 PM. At the meeting, a senior Philosophy/Pre Med student who is starting a business coaching Pre-Med undergraduate students will come speak at our meeting.
