 Welcome! My research examines consumer behavior and decision-making with a focus on brand and product management, product recommendations and advice, and gift-giving. The Society for Consumer Psychology awarded me its first Early Career Contribution Award in 2000. The American Marketing Association awarded my dissertation on branding the 1992 John A. Howard award and my research on product assortment the 2003 O’Dell Award for its long-term significance to marketing theory and practice in the Journal of Marketing Research. My research has appeared in leading academic journals including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. My research has also been featured in the media including Time Magazine, Business Week, and U.S. News and World Report.I currently serve as associate editor at the Journal of Marketing Research and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Consumer Psychology. I am President of the Society for Consumer Psychology and have been active in the Association for Consumer Research serving on its advisory board, as Treasurer, and 2001 ACR conference co-chair.

Courses taught include Brand Management at the undergraduate and MBA levels, Freshman Signature course on Social Influences on Consumer Behavior, and Consumer Behavior at the PhD level. I had the pleasure of serving as PhD advisor for the UT Marketing Department from 2002-2011. My education background is a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Florida.
