Conference Presentation: TRACS 2026

Congratulations to our lab members Dr. Natalie Poulos, Hannah Price, and Lauren Bell who presented on the campus-facing food insecurity work of the Food Security Lab at UT Austin during the Texas Regional Alliance for Campus Sustainability Summit, hosted by St. Edwards University!

This work takes a multi-method research approach that is focused on understanding the student experience, particularly where students lack access, resources, and education to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. We believe problem-solving begins by collaborating and partnering with other food-security-focused organizations on campus. Our main efforts currently include:

  • College Basic Needs
  • UT Austin Food Security Initiative
  • C.H.E.F.S.

This presentation highlighted the main foci of the lab when it comes to approaching these complex issues, including:

  • Relationship building across campus
  • Integration of existing programs
  • Create system for student engagement
  • Leverage campus food resources
  • Research and program evaluation
  • Sustainability of programs
