MOTIVATION
Storm surges and tsunamis are destructive and costly natural hazards for coastal and ocean environments around the world. Coastal and ocean environments confront increased uncertainty and risks from coastal hazards because of a growing population in coastal areas. Moreover, most of the coastal infrastructures were not developed with today’s knowledge of climate-related hazards in mind.
