Freeman Stipend for Internships in Asia

The Freeman Stipend for Internships in Asia provides students interested in completing an internship in Asia with the opportunity to do so, by reducing the financial barrier that may prevent some students from pursuing an internship abroad.

Students who are U.S. Citizens and who are planning on completing a minimum of an 8-10 week internship in one of the following Asian countries: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, are eligible to apply.

If interested, apply today for the chance to be awarded a $2500 – $4,000 scholarship for study abroad. The application is simple and no recommendations are required!

Do you fit the eligibility requirements below? Here’s the information:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident to apply
  • Internship must be a minimum of 8-10 weeks in length
  • May be for credit, or not for credit
  • Recipients must complete a service requirement either during the placement or post-placement

·         Financial need (current FAFSA on file with UT Austin)

While both undergraduates and graduate students are eligible to apply, priority will be give to undergraduate students and those with demonstrated financial need.
