The Gilman Scholarship is a generous federal scholarship for study abroad and a great opportunity for U.S. citizens receiving a Federal Pell Grant to fund their international experience. UT Austin is consistently a top producer of Gilman Scholars.

Education Abroad is hosting 2 virtual information sessions to help students prepare a competitive application. During the information sessions, we will cover scholarship details, selection criteria, and tips for submitting a competitive application.

The Fall 2026 Application is now open for applicants whose abroad programs or internships start between December 1, 2026 to October 31, 2027. This cycle encompasses Winter or January term 2027, Spring 2027, Maymester 2027, Summer 2027, Fall 2027, and academic year 2027-2028 programs. The application deadline is Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:59pm Pacific Time.
