Description

Award-winning poet Naomi Shihab Nye reads from her work for the Ransom Center’s 2016 Burnshaw Lecture. A former chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, she has written over 30 books of poetry and prose, including Transfer (2011), You and Yours (2005), and Fuel (1998). Co-presented by the Michener Center for Writers, where Nye is a visiting professor. A reception follows.

UT’s Minority Women Pursuing Law and ScorePerfect will be hosting a Free LSAT Workshop on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 from 6:00PM-7:30PM at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, Room 201. Chick-fil-A will be served!

 The workshop will be conducted by Jessica Jackelen, a veteran ScorePerfect instructor with over five years of LSAT teaching experience. Attendees will be challenged with a series of difficult LSAT questions and Jessica will demonstrate the most effective methods for tackling them. Student Staff Position Open in Joynes Reading Room

Archer Fellowship Program – Fall Information Sessions

The Archer Fellowships Program provides selected students from across the University of Texas System campuses the opportunity to live, learn and intern in Washington, D.C. We are looking for students with a passion for public policy and/or public service, but you don’t have to be a government or political communication major to apply! Are you a pre-med student interested in health policy? A business student interested in trade regulation? A liberal arts or social work student interested in criminal justice reform? Are you interested in how policy will impact your future profession?

If the answer is yes, the Archer Fellowship Program may be for you! Come learn about this unparalleled educational and professional opportunity by attending an information session. We welcome applications from students representing all majors and disciplines on campus. In fact, each year we select Archer Fellows from across campus who then pursue their professional and academic interests in Washington, D.C.

Applications for the 2017-2018 academic year will be due on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017.

Texas National Security Forum

Herzstein Texas National Security Forum

From September 22-23, 2016, the fourth annual Herzstein Texas National Security Forum will take place at The University of Texas at Austin. This year’s conference theme is “National Security and the Presidential Transition” and will feature the Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper, former National Security Advisor Steve Hadley, former Deputy Secretaries of State John Negroponte and Jim Steinberg, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Philip Breedlove, former White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten, and many other national security leaders.
