Matt is a Research Assistant in the Melamed Lab who specializes in bioinformatics. He obtained his BS in Genetics from Texas A&M University and graduated in 2020. Before moving to Austin to work at UT, he worked at restaurants while volunteering his free time to research into canine evolution. He is currently a member of both the Melamed and Hofmann labs. His projects in lab included transcriptomic analysis of EAE Mice with Low Dosage of Alcohol and genetic description of the inbred HDID mice. Many have compared Matt to the biblical figure “Samson”, as they say if he were to cut his hair, he would lose all his strength. He is an aspiring evolutionary biologist.
