Dreyfus Affair: Ideology in postcards

Emile Zola (1840-1902). Novelist and founder of the Naturalist movement, he wrote, for the defense of Dreyfus, an article that denounced the first trial as a mockery. His charge against the government itself forced him to find refuge in Great Britain.

The year 2006 marked the centenary of Jewish French military officer Alfred Dreyfus’s acquittal. The Harry Ransom Center has an extraordinary collection of postcards related to the affair. Selections from Feliks Topolski: Portraits of Britain’s Twentieth-Century Literary Greats

The exhibition Felix Topolski: Portraits of Britain’s Twentieth-Century Literary Greats, runs through December 31, 2006.
