The TechANS lab was founded in 2021 under the leadership of Drs. Jared Benge and Robin Hilsabeck, clinical neuropsychologists at the University of Texas Dell Medical School Department of Neurology at UT Health Austin Mulva Clinic for Neurosciences Comprehensive Memory Center.
Our “big questions” include:
- How can we train individuals with memory and other cognitive problems to use technology to improve these symptoms?
- How can we leverage technology to promote accurate diagnosis and treatment planning?
- How can technology be leveraged to improve the assessment of day to day functioning in those with cognitive decline?
- Can we develop technological reserve to protect, improve, and sustain the cognitive health of older adults?
Clinical Trial Highlight:
- Developing Digital Markers for Cognitive Health:
Smartphones and smart watches may be able to help identify cognitive changes earlier.
In this study the Technological Assistance for Neurosciences Lab is assessing cognitive health based on data that is collected from sensors in smartphones and smartwatches. Its goal is to assess and characterise cognitive functioning in a more naturalistic, unobtrusive, efficient and continuous manner. For this study we are looking for people 65 and over. (both with and without memory problems). More information & Study website
